According to local media, a $2.24bn casino is planned to be built in Vietnam. The casino resort will be placed on the coastal island of Hon Tre, near the provincial capital of Khanh Hoa, Nha Trang.
The authorities are waiting for approval from the country’s political bureau and the prime minister. As reported by local news agencies, the project is supported by the hotel firm Vinpearl Co.
Currently only two casinos in Vietnam have the right to accept local players according to local regulations. Players must meet certain requirements.
Several days ago, operators in Vietnam asked the government to make some rules easier for locals in order to increase casino revenue lost as a result of travel restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
